Packaging the Product Marketer: Lessons from Turning Myself Into an Action Figure

2 min readApr 16, 2025

Yes, you read that right. After launching over 200 products, writing three books, and recording countless podcast episodes — I did what any self-respecting PMM with a sense of humor would do:

I turned myself into a toy.

Complete with a laptop powered by matcha and conviction, a mic for spontaneous thought leadership, and — of course — my books that have made the rounds in PMM circles around the globe.

Now in limited-edition blister packaging — complete with:
✔️ A laptop powered by matcha green tea & conviction
✔️ “Product Marketing Debunked” (the book that built PMMs)
✔️ A launch plan sharper than your analytics dashboard
✔️ And yes, a podcast mic — because thought leadership waits for no one 🎙️

After helping bring over 200+ products to market, I figured… Why not turn myself into one?

We often think of product marketing as what we do for other people’s ideas. We shape messaging, design go-to-market strategies, and drive adoption. But rarely do we pause and apply those same principles to ourselves. What if we were the product? What would our positioning be? How clear is our narrative? What would our “packaging” say when no one’s around to explain it?

Great PMMs understand that successful product marketing is part art, part science — and an often-overlooked piece: emotional endurance. Because in the chaos of cross-functional requests, unclear roadmaps, impossible deadlines, and evolving customer expectations, the only constant is your ability to stay grounded, adapt quickly, and still move the story forward.

And no matter how good the messaging is — if there’s no market fit, it’s just a fancy box with no toy inside.

So yes, I turned myself into an action figure. But more importantly, I used it as a mirror. To remind myself — and hopefully others — that the best product marketers know when to laugh, when to zoom out, and when to stand unapologetically in the value they bring.

To every PMM, GTM lead, and founder out there navigating the noise with clarity, creativity, and heart, this one’s for you.

My latest book, The Launch: A Product Marketer’s Guide, is now available onAmazon. I also wrote the book Product Marketing Debunked. The Essential Go-To-Market Guide which you can purchase on Amazon.

You can also check out my podcast Gateways to Awakening where I’ve interviewed over 200+ leaders on the topics of intuition, consciousness, well-being, and spirituality. It’s now in the top 2% of all podcasts listened to globally on Apple.
